Cannot Revoke Authority
Attempting to revoke mint or freeze authority on Solana fails? Learn the common causes and how to fix authority revocation errors.
Problem
Attempting to revoke mint or freeze authority fails.
Quick Solution
You can only revoke authority from the wallet that currently holds it. Verify you're connected with the correct wallet. If authority was already revoked, it shows as 'Disabled' on Solscan.
Common Causes
- You must revoke from the wallet that currently holds authority
- Authority was previously revoked (cannot revoke twice)
- Authority was transferred to another wallet
- Need SOL for the transaction fee
How to Fix
Check Current Authority
1. Go to Solscan.io
2. Search your token's mint address
3. Check "Mint Authority" and "Freeze Authority" fields
4. If it shows "Disabled" — authority is already revoked
Connect the Correct Wallet
The authority can only be revoked by the wallet that currently holds it. If you see an address in the authority field, make sure that exact wallet is connected.
Authority Was Transferred
If you transferred authority to another wallet address, connect that wallet to revoke. The original creator cannot revoke if authority has been transferred.
Already Revoked
If authority shows "Disabled" on Solscan, it has already been revoked. This is permanent and cannot be undone. No further action is needed.
Cost
Revoking each authority costs approximately 0.1 SOL on SolTokenCreator.io.
